This new version brings a business policy management engine, a better Web standards and enterprise flow support. Oracle AS 10g Release 3 will be available beginning 2006. Oracle presents it like a major part of SOA strategy.
One of the major updates is the possibility to add or to modify business policy without changing application code. Since now, it was necessary to recompile and redeploy the application. The last Java integration technologies are also supported.
Web services support was improved by integrating UDDI 3 directory. Application Server also supports WS-Reliable Messaging, WS-Security, WS-Federation, WS-I (Web Services Interoperability) and Web Services Invocation Framework. The security was improved by using SAML 1.0/2.0 and single sing-on advanced functions.
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 supports a wide range of open source frameworks like Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate and Tapestry. Another open source projects can be used. Among them, myFaces a free Java Server Faces (JSF) implementation and CVS (Concurrent Versions System).
Oracle AS 10g R3 Enterprise version will be shipped for 30000$.
